Guide to Planning for the New Year

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

It’s that time of the year when people feel the breeze of the holidays. Most people will also eat a lot and pig out during this season (at least in the Philippines, that is).

For most people though, the end of the year is also a time of looking back and reviewing the year that was. It’s also a time to take a look at what the future holds.

Most folks would also write their “New Year’s Resolutions!“

I don’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions! They are simply good intentions that, most often that not, remain as good intentions. They rarely happen. And the person who has them usually ends up frustrated and annoyed.

Evaluate the Past

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

The year 2008 is about to end. Every ending portends the coming of a new beginning.

In addition to the Christmas season, gift wrapping, shopping and booking for holiday vacations, it is high time to look at the year 2008 and the highlights of what made this year meaningful. Here are a number of questions that could help you evaluate this year.

What are the highlights of this year for you?
Have you achieved the goals you’ve set for yourself at the beginning of this year?
Were you responsible for your finances?
What is the status of you finances now?
Did you take care of your health this year?
Did you manage your time well this year?
Can you honestly say that your life was lived meaningfully this year?

Some of these questions may be difficult to answer. So these are all I’m going to post today. The next post in this series will be about Facing the Future.
