Are you ready for the madness right after Thanksgiving Day in the United States?

Product Reviews Blog has some great scoop:

We have never seen so many big discounts on products before Black Friday, 2009 and turned out to be something special for those looking for early sales before the day after Thanksgiving. This is obviously due to the economy, and advertisers wanting to give consumers many more big discounts over a longer period to increase profits.
We recently spoke about the Television Doorbuster deals that Sears had in their Black Friday ads, and specifically about the Samsung 40-inch LN40B500 TV. Now Sears have stepped up their offers, and brought them forward to today

Gather also has some interesting insights about people shopping now after the losses they experienced to the recession:

It seems there will be more people holiday shopping this year after the major holiday losses retailers experienced in 2008. However, it also appears many people will use the opportunity to shop for themselves.

With Black Friday 2009 sales offering drastic discounts on appliances and other necessities, it is a good time to get what is needed for less. I really could use a few essentials myself and have been holding off due to high prices year round.

Ebay Outage | Ebay has some search problems right now

In view of the upcoming Black Friday sales 2009 all over the United States, Ebay is having some problems right now. It could be because of the sheer bulk of people using the service or this could be a Denial of Service Attack. This prevents a lot of people from surfing and buying some stuff online.

The Wall Street Journal reports that “EBay Inc.’s main e-commerce sites suffered from sporadic failures on Saturday, limiting the ability of shoppers to search for products on the site in the lead-up to the crucial holiday shopping season.

Sellers say they first began noticing problems with eBay’s search system on Saturday morning. At 11:17 a.m. Pacific time.”

This Ebay outage may also be because of the new Ebay e-commerce site, as per reports from CNET:

eBay Motors founder Simon Rothman announced on Monday that he has officially launched a new e-commerce site, Glyde. According to the press release, Glyde’s goal “is to democratize e-commerce.” The site was born out of Rothman’s desire to make it easier for Web users to buy and sell products online.
But Glyde throws in a twist. The site’s marketplace is designed for Web users to sell used goods. They can sell books, CDs, DVDs, and video games.

At this time, we just have to be patient and wait for some developments. Hopefully, Ebay will be restored soon enough.
