BIR changes tax policies on head of the family and tax exemption

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Thanks to one of my friends, I got wind of a report that the BIR has lowered the treshold for tax exemption. Instead of P30,000 personal exemptions, you will now enjoy P50,000 of personal exemptions and P25,000 for your dependents.

Not only that, if you are Single, you can no longer be considered as head of the family as long as your parents are still alive. This means that the P100 less tax per month entitled to the Head of the Family will no longer be applicable. The status will only be SINGLE or MARRIED. But you can still put your qualified dependents of up to four children less than 21 years of age. Parents can no no longer be considered as qualified dependents. Too bad for those who are supporting their parents.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue has increased the personal exemptions and additional exemptions in computing the income tax beginning this year. This means that if you have been paying your taxes regularly, you may be entitled for some proportionate tax refunds!

Blogging, Writing and Taking a Vacation

Monday, September 29th, 2008

I’ve been writing like crazy for the past week. I usually start at 8 in the morning and continue writing till the wee hours, like 2AM or 4AM. I accepted a lot of projects because I wanted to go on vacation on October 1-3. Yep, I am going home (again) to my beloved province Isabela in Cagayan Valley.

I have been too busy in the past few days that I have not given enough attention to my blogs. I want to grow my blogs in such a way that they will become authorities in their respective niches. WhateverMighty, on the other hand, is just my personal blog. I rant here. I talk about anything under the sun. I blog. I brag. I write about anything! Yeah… whatever! :D

But seriously, I need to think about how to make my blogs stand out and drive more traffic. That is the only way for these blogs to grow. These means therefore that I have to learn more and apply what I learn to my blogs.

As I take my vacation on October 1-3, I will look at my blogs and how I can work in promoting them more.

Another thing I have not really given attention to is literary writing. I’ve been so caught up with my blogs and with my online income-generating activities that I have not written a single short story or poetry for two years now. Sigh.

When I go home, I hope to pick up the trails I’ve lost and hopefully, remind myself again that I am a writer, a creative writer, first and foremost.
